1. Inspection upon Delivery of Granite Curbstones
First, the manufacturer must provide a factory certificate of conformity and a quality inspection report for the curbstones delivered to the construction site. Subsequently, the client-in conjunction with personnel from the supervisory team-must inspect the delivered curbstones. This involves checking for color variations and rejecting any stones that are substandard due to issues such as significant chipped corners or edges, or uneven exposed surfaces.
2. Elevation Surveying
Once the road base construction is complete and has been inspected and approved by the supervising engineer (with the issuance of relevant compliance documentation), the next step in the workflow is to re-establish the road centerline and install alignment markers and elevation control stakes. Typically, an elevation control stake is set every 10 meters, with cotton string stretched between the stakes to ensure the precise installation of each curbstone.
3.Granite Kerbstone Installation
Mortar must be prepared prior to installation; C10 concrete is required for the bedding layer, while the joint-filling mortar must be a mixture of fine sand and cement blended according to a strict ratio-specifically controlling the number of buckets of fine sand per bag of cement. As the "bedding mortar" method is typically used, the foundation layer must be thoroughly cleaned of construction debris to ensure a flat, tidy surface; the foundation must also be wetted with water before the bedding concrete is laid. The bedding concrete layer must be at least 3 cm thick. During installation, care must be taken to avoid staining the kerbstone surfaces with mortar, and alignment strings stretched between elevation stakes should be used to ensure straightness. After each kerbstone is placed, its level must be checked; if significant unevenness is detected, a rubber mallet should be used to adjust the angle. Once installation is verified as correct, the joints between kerbstones are filled with C10 concrete, ensuring the joints are fully packed and smooth with consistent spacing. There must be a tight, gap-free bond between the bottom of the granite and the bedding mortar. Upon completion, the site must be cleared of debris and excess concrete. Finally, warning signs should be placed nearby to protect the finished work and prevent accidental damage caused by other construction personnel or vehicles.
