The installation of granite balustrades involves several critical steps and considerations; the following is a detailed installation guide:
1. Foundation Preparation
Foundation Treatment: Ensure the foundation is level and solid. A concrete foundation is typically used with a recommended thickness of ≥30 cm; embedded steel reinforcement (diameter ≥12 mm) should be included to enhance stability.
Layout and Positioning: Precisely mark the layout based on design drawings, indicating the positions of the balustrade posts. Spacing is generally maintained between 1.2 and 1.5 meters, with a tolerance of no more than ±5 mm.
2. Post Installation
Fixing Method: The base of the post must be inserted over the embedded reinforcement (depth ≥20 cm) and secured by grouting with high-strength cement mortar (grade ≥M20). Verticality deviation should be ≤3 mm per meter.
Anti-rust Treatment: Metal connectors must be coated with anti-rust paint. For wet-installation methods, the contact surface of the stone should be coated with a backing adhesive to prevent efflorescence.
3. Balustrade Panel and Handrail Installation
Joining Method: Balustrade panels are connected using mortise-and-tenon joints or stainless steel dowels; the joint gap must be ≤2 mm and filled with stone adhesive.
Leveling and Alignment: After installation, the handrail must be checked with a level; the overall straightness deviation should be ≤3 mm per 10 meters.
4. Acceptance Standards
Strength Test: The balustrade must withstand a horizontal load of ≥1.5 kN/m without loosening or cracking.
Visual Inspection: The surface must be free of scratches and color inconsistencies; joints must be smooth and flush, without misalignment.
